Finally I found some place that sells photo emulsion, screen printing inks, screen cleaner, and everything else you need for screen printing! So yes, it is possible to find silk screening supplies in Prague however, it was a bit of a task to actually “find it” after I found it online but in the end I was successful. So the place is called Sibar and it’s the location of a company called Prator Cz which actually manufactures screen printing supplies. So you buy direct from the supplier, perfect as their can be a high markup here in Czech Republic. The place is located down an industrial street near the Bohemians Stadium in Prague 10. The name of the tram stop you want to get off at is “Bohemians” and from there it is about a 7 minute walk. If you blink you might miss it as it isn’t actually a store front, but instead an alleyway, in fact it’s difficult to even know where to go once you go down the alley. I walked into some open doors where there was an old man who could barely hear and asked for foto emulze, after repeating myself a few times he told me to go upstairs and ask. Upstairs? Ok. So I walked down a long hallway and finally found their little logo for their company on the door. I walked in and a woman was sitting behind a desk, no silk screen materials anywhere in sight. She then told me to go talk to another guy right at the entrance to the alleyway, so I walked back and talked to him. He was really nice and even instructed me how to use the products. The screen cleaner and sensitizer both came in powdered form, and I went with the local czech company, although they also carried some products from the US as well (which were more expensive). Without speaking czech I’d say it would be nearly impossible to tell him what you need, so if you need to go there I would suggest bringing a czech friend or having everything written down beforehand. I got enough powdered screen cleaner for 15 liters of water, sensitizer, and a large container of photo emulsion for 902Kc (about 40$) . Now it’s time to finally coat some new screens, and give it another try! My goal was to have some T Shirts made by August 1st so looks like I just might make it in the nick of time.
